Oil & filter change

To make sure your engine is protected at all times, your vehicle manufacturer recommends changing the oil and oil filter regularly. This will keep your engine working its best and may avoid costly repairs down the road. A good rule of thumb is every 3,000 miles.

Through normal driving, the constant heat in the engine begins to break down the oil. Over time, small bits of debris and dirt can get into the oil making it less slippery so that it doesn't protect the engine as well.

As the parts in your engine work together, they create tremendous heat through friction. Without oil, the heat would actually melt these parts together. By having oil in your vehicle, it keeps the moving parts of your engine lubricated and reduces the heat. Motor oil also contains special additives to help the engine work more efficiently.

Changing your oil according to your vehicle manufacturer's recommendation is perhaps the single most important maintenance that you can perform to keep your vehicle running. For better protection we recommend using synthetic oil which is specifically formulated to help your engine last longer.

Preventive maintenance

Your car's engine is made up of hundreds of complex components working together to ensure that your vehicle starts and runs properly. Over time, however, these components can wear out, resulting in a loss of performance and fuel economy.

We believe in preventive maintenance – keeping your car in good working order and avoiding the problems that can lead to roadside breakdowns. Our expert technicians are trained to help keep your car running as safely as possible, making sure that the major mechanical systems are functioning properly and efficiently.

At MINHS, we understand how important your car is to you and we know your car's needs. We can help you follow its factory-recommended maintenance schedule.
Fuel Injection Service

The by-products of engine combustion will leave buildup of dirt and garnish within your fuel system such as injectors, engine valves and pistons. This service will clean out the fuel system which will increase engine performance and fuel economy. The recommended service interval is every 24,000 miles.

Fluid Exchange Services

Transmission, brake system, cooling system and power steering system are just some of the major mechanical systems that uses fluids to lubricate moving parts, as they move they create friction and heat. Over time these fluids will break down from usage and needs to be replenished with fresh fluid to prevent mechanical breakdown of the associated system.

Factory Scheduled Maintenance

Following the suggested maintenance guidelines by your manufacturer will extend the life of your vehicle and prevent big repairs down the road. Let us tailor a package that meets your specific scheduled maintenance needs.

Engine cooling system

System Overview

Your engine is constantly burning fuel and therefore gets very hot. In fact, the temperatures inside the combustion chamber may reach 4,500 degrees. It is the job of the cooling system to carry this potentially harmful heat away from the engine to the outside air. To do this, a coolant mixture of water and antifreeze is circulated through the engine block. The coolant absorbs heat from the engine and is pumped by the water pump through hoses to the radiator. Once the radiator transfers the heat from the engine to the outside air, the coolant circulates back to the engine and the cycle begins again.

Cooling System Service

To keep this important system working properly, vehicle manufacturers recommend that this system be serviced at specified time or mileage intervals. Over time, the rust inhibitors and additives in the coolant may lose their anti-corrosive properties leaving particles and debris to build up within the system. These contaminants can block passages within the radiator and reduce its ability to keep the engine running at the optimal temperature. To remove this build-up, many service providers perform a radiator " drain-and-fill.
What to look out for

Cooling system failure is the number one cause of vehicle breakdowns. Because there are often no visible warning signs of deterioration, radiator and cooling system maintenance service is frequently overlooked by vehicle owners.

Brake service

Your car's brakes work hard. And the job they do is critical to your safety. That's why it's so important for you to be aware of how your brakes work, and to be alert for signs that your brakes need maintenance. Here you'll find an overview of braking systems, and tips to help you know when it's time for brake service. No matter what your brake system needs, MINHS Auto Care is here to help make sure your car is functioning.

Today's braking systems are composed of a number of integral parts all working together to ensure that your vehicle stops properly. Generally speaking, by depressing the brake pedal, you are telling the master cylinder to compress brake fluid, which in turn sends hydraulic pressure through brake lines that activate your vehicle's brake pads (or shoes).

These pads (or shoes) then make contact with spinning rotors (or drums), slowing down or stopping the vehicle. More complex systems use sensors to activate the brake system, but the net desired effect is the same.

Transmission service

The modern automatic transmission is by far, the most complicated mechanical component in today's automobile. Automatic transmissions contain mechanical systems, hydraulic systems, electrical systems and computer controls, all working together in perfect harmony which goes virtually unnoticed until there is a problem.

Automatic transmission fluid lubricates, cools and cleans internal components of the transmission. It also helps to maintain the hydraulic pressure necessary for the transmission to function. The additives in the transmission fluid can be depleted over time so it should be change periodically. Our Automatic Transmission service includes:
  • removing the transmission pan to remove the old automatic transmission fluid
  • replacing transmission oil filter and gasket
  • refilling the transmission with new automatic transmission fluid to the proper level

Transmission overhaul

If you are experiencing hard shift or slipping problems, the internal mechanical or electrical parts may have worn and a transmission overhaul would be required to correct that condition. We can perform a diagnostic service and recommend repairs accordingly.

In a complete overhaul (also known as rebuilding a transmission), the transmission is removed from the vehicle and completely disassembled with the parts laid out on a workbench. Each part is inspected for wear and damage and then either cleaned in a special cleaning solution, or replaced with another part depending on its condition. Parts that have friction surfaces, such as bands and clutches are replaced as are all seals and gaskets.
